St Louis is so close that we head there quite a bit when we want to do something a little more fun. So last weekend, we went to The Magic House on Friday and stayed overnight to go to the Zoo on Saturday. The best part for the kids was the hotel room. It was just a Hampton Inn, but they acted like it was amazing. It's crazy how easy to please they are sometimes. As you can see, we played in the water a lot. Lydia especially was soaked both days. And both days they were asleep in the car as soon as we left the attraction.
If you've never been to the Magic House, it's pretty cool. My kids really like playing outside, because inside it gets a little crowded and noisy. There's a little stream in front. And this summer in the back parking lot is a beach. It was super hot, but we still had lots of fun. Lydia had sand all over her body. It was horrible to clean her up. She lives life to the fullest!
The zoo was hard work. It was hot again and they were tired and cranky for part of it. But it was still fun. Lydia especially loved playing in the water in the Children's Zoo. And the carousel is always a big hit with them.
Unrelated to our trip last week, I wanted to share that in our house right after Mother's Day, Lucas created a new holiday. Brother/Sister Day. He didn't really like that I had my own day where I got to do fun things. (And those fun things included cleaning our bathrooms, etc.) So he decided that next Monday was Brother/Sister day. Isn't that creative? I was really impressed until lots of days recently have been Brother/Sister Day. He's taken it a bit too far. :)
The best part of the trip for me, other than spending time with my angels, was meeting my best tennis friends for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory Friday night. They were in St Louis too for a tennis tournament and we enjoyed dinner/a drink outside. That was really like a vacation for me. (not including the 2 trips we made to the bathroom during dinner. lol)
