Happy Birthday Party Day Lydia!

Lydia had a great birthday party last night. She was a little unsure at first about everything but she got the hang of it. She managed to make a huge mess with her little cake, primarily because she started playing peek-a-boo with the family after she had frosting all over her. She didn't really understand the presents, but big brother Lucas and cousin Harrison were happy to jump in and open them for her. Note the Happy Birthday bow that Nana made for her and the dress with birthday smocking that Nana gave her. Without Nana, Lydia wouldn't be the fashionable princess that she is.

Lucas LOVED the presents we got her. He's been playing with the "Pretty Purse" ever since. I think this morning, he finally let Lydia have it after many talks from mom. But to Lydia, all the toys we have are new, so she doesn't know she should claim these birthday toys as hers yet.

Aunt Jean, my mom's sister and Uncle Matt came to the party too. They hadn't met Lydia in person yet, but they've been following the journal and blog. It's about time they came to visit.

Lydia's cousin Abby, who turns one next week, took her first steps as the party was winding down. It won't be long before she's chasing the older boys around, just like Lydia.

Relaxing with Grandad after the party.
