Beach vacation

So it wasn't enough that I spent a lovely 21 days in Nepal this summer, but we had also scheduled a family vacation with my parents and siblings and their families. So we loaded up the car and drove hours and hours to Hilton Head Island, SC. The kids were both wonderful in the car, but it was a really long drive. Worth it though because we all had a great time. Lydia especially liked the ocean and beach. Lucas wasn't really into the ocean, but did enjoy playing in the sand. It was amazing to finally have all 7 grandchildren together. I feel very blessed that Lydia was home from Nepal and able to go on this vacation. There were times in the last 6 months that I didn't even dream she would be there.

Lydia did really well on vacation, but she was a little freaked out when we got to the hotel on the drive there and back. I'm sure she was wondering where we were and what was going on. When we got back home, both kids tore thru their toys like little tornadoes. There's definitely no place like home.

Here are all the older kids after walking 114 steps up to the top of the HarbourTown lighthouse. It was sooo hot climbing up there. Absolutely no air moving on that climb. But the kids thought it was pretty cool!

A trip to HHI isn't complete without this picture. I took the same one of Lucas 2 years ago when we visited. Aren't they cute? But it was so hot there and we were so sweaty all the time. It doesn't make for pretty pictures, does it?

And here they are at the playground. I'm sure you've figured out by now we have extra kids. Those are the cousins. What a wonderful trip for the kids! Really awesome watching them all interact.

And finally, one of my favorite pictures from the beach. Lydia was so funny, trying to scoot sideways away from the surf.
