12 month home visit

Today was our 12 month home visit. I can't believe it. Lucas' official adoption date isn't until the end of August, but Julia, our social worker, needed time to prepare the report and submit it. It' s just amazing how fast the last year has gone.
Lucas was such a ham today when she visited. I was worried he would be shy, but he was his normal, entertaining self.

Here's a picture of Lucas with Julia. I feel like we've know her forever! Aren't they cute?

Yesterday was Grandad's birthday. I didn't realize that Lucas was taking Grandad out to lunch until they popped into my office late that afternoon. I'll give you 3 guesses (and a picture) as to where they had lunch, but I'm sure you'll only need one! I heard that Lucas was grabbing fries off Grandad's plate when the waitress put it on the table.

And here are just a few more pictures of Lucas from the last couple of weeks. One picture with mommy and one of him brushing his teeth in the bathtub. In the last picture he was making a funny face and cracking me up.
I don't think I've mentioned yet that we went to the doctor last Saturday for our 15 month well baby checkup. Lucas weighed a healthy 25lbs 10oz and was 31 3/4 inches long. That was 75% for height and 70% for weight on the American growth charts. It was an awful visit because he started crying as I tried to put him on the scale and continued as the nurse measured him and the doctor checked him out. The nurse said that 15 months is a difficult age and kids are becoming scared of strangers, etc. I was exhausted by the time we left the doctor's office and we were both sweating! Lucas fell asleep in the car on the way home. Why do those appointments always happen during nap time?
I have one more little story before I sign off. Earlier this week Aunt Ali and her boyfriend Neil took Lucas to Wendy's for lunch. From what I've heard, Lucas made a bit of a scene. When they sat down with their food, Lucas started yelling at Neil pretty loudly because he wanted Neil's Frosty. The other diners kept looking at my little angel. To make a long story short, Lucas isn't talking yet, but he manages to get his point across really well!
