Fun at the St Louis Zoo

Wow! What a fun day at the St Louis Zoo. It was hot and we're very tired, but it was a really awesome day. Lucas got to see all kinds of animals. The best was when a baby orangatan came swinging up to the glass. We were sitting on a bench by an empty window into the orangatan enclosure trying to get Lucas to take a bottle. All of a sudden, a mommy and baby orangatan came walking down the hill. The baby left the mom and started to swing on some vines and came right up to the window where Lucas was watching. I wish I had gotten a picture, but it happened so fast! We also saw the sea lion feeding and a baby elephant playing in the water. And since Lucas LOVES to people watch, he enjoyed it all!

While we were on the RiverWalk to see the elephants and hippos, I gave Lucas his sippy cup of water. He can drink out of it if he wants to, but he also loves to let water run out of his mouth. By the time we were ready to leave the zoo, he was soaked! I had to change his clothes before I put him in the car.

We only visited half of the zoo and we were so exhausted. I can't wait to go back again sometime so Lucas can see more! (and mommy too!)

Lucas spent half the time in his new Hotsling and the rest in his stroller.

Getting ready to watch the keepers feed the sea lions.

Here's mommy trying to hold Lucas and cousin Natalie in front of one of those cooling fans that mists water. Lucas loved it!

Inside the penguin and puffin exhibit. It was pretty cold in there!

Some of the family walking away from the hippo exhibit.

Exhausted on the ride home. It took Lucas about 5 minutes to fall asleep after leaving the zoo. And he slept the entire 2 hours home.

The St. Louis Zoo is wonderful...and FREE! At least it was when I lived there 8 years ago. We went there often...just to walk around.
